Aida took her first trip on a plane last weekend August 7-9 to see her family in Solvay.   Aida did real well on the flights, we were concerned about the take offs and landings with the pressure changes, but we gave her a bottle and she went right out to sleep.  The passenger’s were amazingly cordial and several asked if we needed any help carrying all of our carry-on luggage and stroller onto the plane.  We had these nightmare visions of Aida crying the whole time and irate passengers giving us stern glares, but it turned out to be a real pleasant flight.  My brother picked us up at the airport around midnight Wednesday and had some wine at Dad’s house and then called it a night.

On Thursday, we spent the day doing some visiting, Aida got to meet her Great Grandma! did some walking around the village and had a nice dinner at my brother’s house.  Aida got to play with her cousins Autumn and John Anthony and she showed off her mobility crawling and scooting all over the place.  Mixed in a little Guitar Hero before the night was out.  Friday was more visiting and drove around the city with Dad.  We had lunch at Weber’s, Jan and I had the reuben’s, Aida was stuck with her bottle:)  Sorry sweety, soon enough you’ll be indulging.  Friday night we had dinner at the Solvay field days where we got to sample the polenta, a la Solvay Tiger’s.

Saturday the festivities began!  Started the day prepping for the party at my brother’s house.  Uncle Bill got out his chef’s hat and smoked 8 racks of seasoned ribs and had about 600 of the sweetest tasting clams for steamer.  Before the night’s party, we headed back up to the field days for the parade, Aida got to march in the kiddy parade…6 months old and she’s already marched in a parade…jeeez, I think that was the first parade I ever walked in….kid’s grow up so fast these days!  We stopped over Brusa’s house and saw some old friend’s from high school, then back to my brother’s for the party.  This is where the details get a little hazy, not sure if it was the Yuengling on tap or the gallon jug of Jack Daniel’s, but had a great time.  Couldn’t ask for a better day…Family, Friends and great food!!

Big thanks to my brother for going all out and hosting an awesome party.  Hope it becomes an annual event.,
