The exterior trim of the house needs to be painted this year and I need to decide if I’m going to do it or hire someone.  We got an estimate today from Chavez, I don’t think he has a website, and he quoted us $1250 which included removing the gutters (they’re crap and need to be replaced), pressure washing the trim first, scrapping, priming, and painting, said it would be a 3 day job so the estimate doesn’t seem that bad….but, I’m very much a do-it-your selfer.  I like the idea of pressure washing first cause the trim definitely needs to be cleaned before you can paint it, so if I did it I would need to either buy one or rent one, then there’s the need of 25-30 foot ladder, another expense and what am I going to do with this ladder after after I paint and where am I going to store it.   Then the obvious, the BIG IF, what if I’m up there painting the trim on the second story and a Tarver runs into the ladder and I going sailing down 30 feet and end up with a broker tailbone, or worse, a broken heart, then how would I love Aida :(   A decision is not immediate, every other day has been rain so I want to wait to at least the summer with some hot dry days to either do the work or have it done.
