CANES – 2006 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

June 19th, 2006 · No Comments

THEY DID IT! Stanley Cup Champions!

I’ve been grippin’ all day thinking about the game, just hoping the Hurricanes would win the Cup. I had to spend Game 7 in Philly at the Fox and Hound bar to watch the game because of the DIA conference, but there i was, Canes cap on, representing the Canes. Even though I was at game 5, just wish I could of been at the game.

The most emotional thing for me was hearing ‘We are the champions’ by Queen being played at the arena after the game as they were celebrating the Cup. It was so emotional for me because as a Pee-Wee going up playing youth hockey, we won the season championship and after the game, we were skatiing aroung the ice with a trophy and the sound system had ‘we are the champions’ playing, I’ll never forget it.  But to here it at the professionaly level after a Stanley Cup victory, just too much.  It really solidified my love for hockey.  Hearing that song being played after the hardest trogphy in professional sports was won just made a real connection with me in that even though these guys are pros and playing for alot of money, they still are just kids at heart who love the game.  And it was that song, that cheesy song, that I was able to bond to these pro atheletes.

GO CANES…LONG LIVE THE CANES…CANES ARE PART OF STANLEY CUP HISTORY!
